Eradication of prostitution among young women in Bugesera district

The Life Changing Endeavor Organization is dedicated to empowering marginalized populations, and our primary goal is to eradicate sex trade and uphold dignity among young women in Bugesera. Our current initiative exemplifies this commitment. This project is structured into two core components: Mindset Transformation and Economic Empowerment. Our goal is to assist young women engaged in prostitution in Bugesera, Rwanda, by disrupting cycles of vulnerability and fostering self-reliance. This report outlines the progress made in mindset transformation and the gaps in economic empowerment that need addressing to ensure sustainable impact.

Key Achievements

• Participant Engagement: Through workshops and one-on-one counseling, we have engaged with 103 sex workers. These interactions have fostered a more positive self-image and provided the motivation needed to pursue new opportunities.
• Behavioral Changes: There has been a noticeable shift in attitudes and behaviors among the participants. Many have reported increased confidence and a stronger desire to pursue personal and professional development.
• Community Involvement: We have seen growing interest from local stakeholders and community members, who are increasingly supportive of our mission and willing to collaborate.
• Impact on Transition: As a result of our mindset transformation efforts, 80% of the women involved have made significant strides towards transitioning from prostitution to reintegration into society.
• Reduced Dependence on Prostitution: Participants have shown a marked decrease in their involvement in prostitution, with many actively seeking alternative income sources.
• Improved Self-Esteem and Ambition: There has been a rise in participants’ aspirations for a better future, with many setting goals for education, skills training, and stable employment.
